Approved

Which new weight loss drugs were approved since December 2025?

Three: the Wegovy pill (December 22, 2025), Wegovy HD, a 7.2 mg dose of semaglutide (March 19, 2026), and Foundayo, Lilly’s daily pill (April 1, 2026). All are GLP-1 medicines. Self-pay, the two pills start at $149 a month and Wegovy HD is $399 (checked November 1, 2026).

Waiting

Which weight loss drugs are waiting for FDA approval?

For weight loss, one has a decision due: Novo Nordisk’s CagriSema. Novo filed it on December 18, 2025, and said on October 20, 2026 that it expects an FDA decision in Q4 2026. Retatrutide isn’t filed yet: Lilly plans to submit it in Q1 2027. Neither can be compounded.

The details
FiledDecember 18, 2025, for weight management in adults with obesity, or overweight with a weight-related condition
Decision expectedIn the fourth quarter of 2026, Novo Nordisk said on September 21, 2026 and again on October 20, 2026
On the FDA’s approvals list? No, as of November 1, 2026; the list was last updated October 20, 2026
Can it be compounded? No. The FDA says cagrilintide, one of its two ingredients, can’t be used in compounding

Not filed yet: retatrutide. Lilly plans to submit it in Q1 2027, after it completes the manufacturing data the application needs, Lilly says.

Late 2026 and 2027

What’s coming in 2027?

In 2027, Lilly plans to submit retatrutide to the FDA in Q1, and Novo expects REDEFINE 11 results for CagriSema in the first half. On January 1, 2027, Wegovy’s list price falls to $675 (Wegovy price in 2027). Neither new drug has a U.S. launch date or price, as of November 1, 2026.

  1. CagriSema: Novo expects the FDA’s decision.

  2. Survodutide: Boehringer Ingelheim expects to present its heart-outcomes trial results.

  3. Retatrutide: TRIUMPH-5, the head-to-head trial with tirzepatide, is listed to end. Lilly hasn’t said when it will report results.

  4. Wegovy and the Wegovy pill: Novo’s list price falls to $675 a month. Novo says the cut doesn’t change self-pay prices.

  5. Retatrutide: Lilly plans to submit a Biologics License Application to the FDA.

  6. CagriSema: Novo expects results from REDEFINE 11, a longer trial of the current dose (Novo, February 23, 2026).

Not announced, as of November 1, 2026: a U.S. price or launch date for CagriSema or retatrutide, an FDA decision date for retatrutide, or a U.S. filing date for survodutide.

In trials

Which drugs are in late-stage trials?

Three have published phase 3 results, as of November 1, 2026. Retatrutide (Lilly) has six positive trials, the first reported December 11, 2025, and the sixth October 28, 2026. CagriSema (Novo) has its REDEFINE and REIMAGINE trials. Survodutide (Boehringer Ingelheim) reported SYNCHRONIZE-1 on April 28, 2026 and SYNCHRONIZE-2 on October 1, 2026. Only CagriSema is filed with the FDA.

  • Retatrutide (Eli Lilly)

Six positive phase 3 trials, Lilly says; the first, TRIUMPH-4, reported on December 11, 2025, and the sixth, TRANSCEND-T2D-2, head to head with Ozempic 2 mg in type 2 diabetes, on October 28, 2026. Lilly plans an FDA submission in Q1 2027. Retatrutide, explained, and how it compares: retatrutide vs. tirzepatide.

  • CagriSema (Novo Nordisk)

Phase 3 REDEFINE and REIMAGINE trials, including REDEFINE 4, head to head with tirzepatide (February 23, 2026). Filed with the FDA; a decision is expected in Q4 2026. CagriSema, explained.

  • Survodutide (Boehringer Ingelheim)

Phase 3 SYNCHRONIZE-1 (April 28, 2026) and SYNCHRONIZE-2 (October 1, 2026), published in The New England Journal of Medicine. No U.S. filing date announced.

  • Not on the list yet

Drugs still in earlier trials, or in phase 3 without published results, join the tracker when their makers publish results or file with the FDA.

Why no results here? Each trial enrolled different people, for different lengths and doses, so their numbers can’t be lined up fairly. Each drug’s results are on its maker’s page, linked in the tracker.

Prices

Will new weight loss drugs be cheaper than Zepbound or Wegovy?

No one can say yet: no U.S. prices are announced for CagriSema, retatrutide or survodutide, as of November 1, 2026. The newest approved ones cost less at their lowest doses. Foundayo and the Wegovy pill start at $149 a month self-pay. Zepbound’s starting dose is $299, and the Wegovy pen $349.

  • $149a month self-pay: where Foundayo and the Wegovy pill startat their lowest doses
  • $299a month: Zepbound’s starting dose at LillyDirect$349 for the Wegovy pen
  • NoneU.S. prices announced for CagriSema, retatrutide or survodutideas of November 1, 2026

Novo’s list price falls in 2027. Its cut to $675 a month on January 1, 2027 matters most when your costs follow list price, as with high-deductible plans or coinsurance, Novo says; the cut doesn’t change its self-pay prices.

Two temporary self-pay prices end with 2026. Foundayo’s reduced 2.5 mg and 5.5 mg prices and Wegovy’s $199 first two fills run through December 31, 2026, their makers say.

Compounded?

Can you get any of them early from a compounder or “research” seller?

No. The FDA says retatrutide and cagrilintide, one of CagriSema’s two ingredients, can’t be used in compounding under federal law (updated October 1, 2026). The unapproved drugs can’t legally be sold, and “research” vials are of unknown quality and may be harmful, the FDA says. Anything sold online as one of them is unapproved.

“Retatrutide and cagrilintide cannot be used in compounding under federal law.”

U.S. Food and Drug Administration, FDA’s concerns with unapproved GLP-1 drugs used for weight loss, updated October 1, 2026
  • The FDA says retatrutide and cagrilintide aren’t components of any FDA-approved drug.
  • Unapproved drugs containing semaglutide, tirzepatide, retatrutide, survodutide or mazdutide have been sold illegally, labeled “for research purposes” or “not for human consumption,” the FDA says. It urges consumers not to buy them: they’re of unknown quality and may be harmful.
  • Lilly says retatrutide “cannot be legally sold or marketed for human use.” Novo says CagriSema “is not approved for use in the United States.”
  • Anything sold online as retatrutide, CagriSema, cagrilintide or survodutide is an unapproved product or a research chemical.

NexLife doesn’t offer any of them. More on why “research use” vials are risky: research peptides vs. prescribed GLP-1s.

What new weight loss drugs are coming in 2027?

Novo Nordisk expects an FDA decision on CagriSema in Q4 2026, and Lilly plans to submit retatrutide in Q1 2027, the companies say. Neither is FDA-approved, and neither can be compounded or legally sold. No launch dates or U.S. prices are announced.

What is the newest weight loss drug?

Foundayo (orforglipron), Lilly’s daily GLP-1 pill, approved April 1, 2026. It’s the only weight-loss medicine on the FDA’s list of 2026 novel drug approvals, last updated October 20, 2026. Self-pay, it’s $149 to $299 a month at LillyDirect, by dose (checked November 1, 2026); the 2.5 mg and 5.5 mg prices are reduced through December 31, 2026.

What weight loss drugs were approved in 2026?

Foundayo, Lilly’s daily GLP-1 pill, on April 1, 2026, and Wegovy HD, a 7.2 mg dose of semaglutide, on March 19, 2026. Foundayo is the only weight-loss medicine on the FDA’s list of 2026 novel drug approvals, last updated October 20, 2026. The Wegovy pill came just before, on December 22, 2025.

Is retatrutide approved?

No. Lilly plans to submit it to the FDA in the first quarter of 2027, and says it “cannot be legally sold or marketed for human use.” It has six positive phase 3 trials, Lilly says, the sixth reported October 28, 2026. The FDA says retatrutide can’t be used in compounding.

Is there a new GLP-1 pill?

Yes, two are FDA-approved for weight loss: the Wegovy pill (December 22, 2025) and Foundayo (April 1, 2026). Both are daily GLP-1 pills. Each starts at $149 a month self-pay at its lowest dose (checked November 1, 2026); Foundayo’s 2.5 mg and 5.5 mg prices are reduced through December 31, 2026.

Will new weight loss drugs be cheaper?

No one can say yet: no U.S. prices are announced for CagriSema, retatrutide or survodutide (as of November 1, 2026). The new pills cost less at their lowest doses: Foundayo and the Wegovy pill start at $149 a month self-pay, against $299 for Zepbound’s starting dose. Foundayo’s 2.5 mg and 5.5 mg prices are reduced through December 31, 2026.

Can I get CagriSema or retatrutide from a compounding pharmacy?

No. The FDA says retatrutide and cagrilintide, one of CagriSema’s two ingredients, can’t be used in compounding under federal law. Neither is a component of any FDA-approved drug. Anything sold online as retatrutide or CagriSema is an unapproved product or a research chemical, and “research” vials may be harmful, the FDA says.

Is survodutide approved?

No. Boehringer Ingelheim has reported phase 3 results (April 28, 2026 and October 1, 2026) but hasn’t announced a U.S. filing date. It expects heart-outcomes trial results later in 2026. Survodutide is a weekly shot that acts on glucagon and GLP-1 receptors, and it can’t legally be sold.

Is this list up to date?

It was last checked on November 1, 2026, against each company’s and the FDA’s own pages, and every row links to its source. A drug joins the tracker once it’s FDA-approved, filed with the FDA, or has phase 3 results its maker has published. We list only dates the companies or the FDA have announced.

Important safety information

Compounded tirzepatide and semaglutide are not FDA-approved, and the FDA hasn’t reviewed them for safety, effectiveness or quality. A provider prescribes them only when they offer a significant difference for you compared with an FDA-approved product. Both medicines may cause thyroid tumors, including cancer: don’t use either if you or a family member has had medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

Read the full safety information

In studies with rodents, both medicines caused thyroid tumors; it isn’t known whether they cause them in people. Tell your provider if you notice a lump or swelling in your neck, hoarseness, trouble swallowing or shortness of breath. Serious side effects can include inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), gallbladder problems, low blood sugar (especially with insulin or sulfonylureas), kidney problems from dehydration, severe stomach problems, serious allergic reactions, vision changes in people with type 2 diabetes, and a faster heart rate. Tell your care team before any surgery or procedure that uses anesthesia or deep sedation. Don’t combine either medicine with other GLP-1 medicines.

Tirzepatide can make birth control pills less effective: switch to a non-oral method, or add a barrier method such as condoms, for 4 weeks after you start and for 4 weeks after each dose increase. Both medicines may harm an unborn baby. Semaglutide should be stopped at least 2 months before a planned pregnancy. Tell your provider right away if you’re pregnant, planning to be, or breastfeeding.

This is a summary, not the complete safety information. Read the full Prescribing Information for FDA-approved tirzepatide (Zepbound) and semaglutide (Wegovy), and talk with your provider. You can report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or fda.gov/medwatch.
